Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on the arrival of Muharram
October 7th, 2016, posted in Muharram, POEtRY..
The moon of Muharram was seen,
anxiety about the Princes occurred.
What has happened?
Muharram has come back, but the Imams have not returned.
The Princes who left Medina have not come back;
O’ brother dyer! Dye my clothes black…
As I mourn for those who did not return.
– Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on the arrival of Muharram (translated from Sindhi)
Bhittai narrates the battle of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Husain A.S. in Sur Kedaro. Translated and re-produced by Annemarie Schimmel (celebrated academic) in her works
Saza Waar de Krram Pa Sa – Poetry By Rehman Baba
May 5th, 2016, posted in POEtRY..Why don’t you look at me with love
Why are you adding further to my grief
People cry when they see my pain in your love
why are you making the whole world cry
I don’t understand the meaning of your red lips
Why are you always drinking blood from heart
I, Rahman, blame myself for being in love
What are the others blaming for
O my love, what did convict me for
Without any sin, what you made sinful for
My clean soul got stained by your beauty
Why did you send me to glow like Mansoor
Naive me, you gave me a deceiving smile
What did you evict me for, from the town
Sharing pain is not such, O my love
that i am waiting here, while you are home
Thieves steal in the darkness of night
But you stole my heart in the bright day light
That was God who set your face on ardent fire
But those flames set my heart on fire
Nothing lacks in Rahman’s love
then why are you looking at yourself in the mirror
Going crazy, i haven’t seen my love today
I haven’t seen the prince of both worlds
Poor is the one without money
I havent seen a poor, clever
Every tree bears its own fruit,
I haven’t seen orange tree bearing pomegranate
I, Rahman, am the sweeper of Mohammad’s house
I have never seen such a host and house.
